Asset Management & Asset Administration

Bahrain is a leading asset management centre in the region, having been initially established in the 1980s, with the first Bahraini-domiciled fund being launched in the Kingdom in 1984. Our regulatory system and financial services infrastructure enable asset managers to meet increasing demand for managed funds, from both institutions and individuals.

Over the past 40 years, an asset management and wealth management support infrastructure has developed, providing Bahrain-based asset and wealth managers with all the services they need. World-class firms deliver international and local fund-related services such as custody, fund administration, legal, consultancy and audit. We welcome financial services firms, recognising the important contribution they make to our economy.

Anticipating investor demand, the CBB issued a new regulatory framework in June 2007 for collective investment undertakings. This broadened the range of products asset managers could offer and the style of funds that could be managed, including alternative investment funds.

The regulatory framework for collective investment undertakings provides for a broad range of products that asset managers can offer and the style of funds that can be managed, including alternative investment funds. As of April 2014, Bahrain is home to 2,827 registered funds – the region’s largest range. Of these, 92 are Bahraini-domiciled schemes, and 41 Islamic funds1.
