Chemco Group opens in Bahrain

India’s Chemco Group, one of Asia’s leading makers of PET plastic, is to open a factory in the Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP). Its $10 million investment is expected to create over 100 jobs by 2017.
Established in 1980, the company manufactures ‘PET preform’ bottles and jars ranging in capacity from 15 ml to 250 litres. Clients include giants like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Reckitt Benckiser.
Strong trading partners
Chemco Group’s decision to set up in Bahrain underlines the attractiveness of the Kingdom as a manufacturing base for Indian companies, plus the strength of our commercial relationship. Trade between our countries exceeded $1.7 billion in 2011, making India one of Bahrain’s most important economic partners.
Manufacturers like Chemco find it easy to do business in Bahrain. Not only do they benefit from superb facilities, but appreciate Bahrain’s strategic Gulf location, excellent infrastructure and logistics, favourable tax regime and open commercial environment.
Commenting on the agreement, HE Kamal bin Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive, Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), said: “Long-standing ties with India have proven that it is important economic partner. Indian companies have found Bahrain an ideal location for investment, in terms of business environment, transparent progressive legislations and of course the cultural and environmental similarities between the two countries."
