Motor Sports

The Bahrain Grand Prix has rapidly become one of the biggest sporting and social occasions in the Middle East and one of the most respected races on the global stage. By hosting the Grand Prix and other motor sport events Bahrain has earned a reputation as a centre of motor sport in the Gulf.

The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is one of the world's premier motor sport facilities. Under the direction of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a passionate motor sport enthusiast, the Kingdom worked closely with Formula One in creating the most innovatively designed track in the world, equipped with the most cutting edge technology and supported by the world–class infrastructure. At the inaugural race in 2004, the BIC was awarded the ‘Best Organised Grand Prix’ by the FIA.

Additionally, the BIC offers the 'Dragster Xperience', a hugely exciting run down its world-class quarter-mile drag strip at gut-wrenching velocity using state-of-the-art Top Fuel Dragster. It also offers Caterham Passenger Rides for those wishing to feel the thrills, or 4X4 Land Rover Experience that can be enjoyed off the tarmac. The BIC also hosts “open track” days, allowing its racing fans to bring their own car or bike to the track.

VIVA Karting Track, BIC’s all-new state-of-the-art karting facility built to standards of the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK), helps unearth young local talent; and its on-site technicians provide vital racing expertise.

Bahrain hosts the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series – the only round of the series not to take place in either New Zealand or Australia. There is also the BIC’s very own series, the “Chevrolet Supercars Middle East Championship” where all the Class A cars are built by an all-Bahraini qualified team of mechanics.
