Our capital city of Manama is a cultured city with a real soul. It was once the seat of one of the great trading empires of the ancient world, and dates back to the third millennium BC.
Cuisine
Today it’s well-known for its restaurant scene, which ranges from traditional coffee shops to luxury international cuisine. The nightlife is vibrant too, with clubs attracting international DJs.

Modern cinema complexes show the latest international movies, and there are regular cultural events, such as concerts and plays from entertainers who come here from all over the world. You can also visit a number of fascinating art galleries, museums and historical sites.
New developments like Bahrain Bay, City Centre Mall, Al Areen, Amwaj Islands and Durrat Al Bahrain are offering more and more leisure and entertainment opportunities. Al Areen includes the Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort, the largest spa in the Middle East, and the state-of-the-art 'Lost Paradise of Dilmun' Water Park. There will also be a wildlife park. Historical Sites and Outdoor Excursions
Manama’s suq has been famous for hundreds of years. Qalat Arad is a remarkable fort dating back to the 15th century. The Qalat al Bahrain, once capital of the ancient Dilmun civilization, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Bahrain National Museum displays archaeological artifacts spanning 6000 years of Bahrain's history.
