Saff - Palm Tree Leaves Weaving (Qafa with the Cover)

Discover the traditional Bahraini craft of palm tree leaves weaving that is still practiced in man villages around the kingdom. Join Al Jasra Crafts Centre’s ‘Saff - Palm Tree Leaves Weaving’ workshop to create your very own Qafa, at the House of Basket Weaving.

This workshop encourages the sustainable and optimal use of wicker palm derivatives, by transforming them into daily useful tools, such as food mats, storage baskets, small plates, and hand fans.

Participants are trained in wicker saff, and taught on how to deal with palm sticks. They are also introduced to the different types of saff, and are offered the experience to sew saff.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have learned the main skills of this unique craft, and have created their own Qafa with a cover. So, don’t miss out on this special experience.
